The Clyde Arc, or Squinty bridge as it is better known, was designed with a lifetime of 120 years. Someone got their sums wrongs though, after only about 18 months a connector holding one of the support cables broke, bringing the cable crashing down on to the bridge. Luckily no one was around at the time but it resulted in the bridge closing for 6 months while all the connectors were replaced.
