This is the oldest church in Dumfries, it was constructed between 1741 and 1746 at a cost of 402 pounds, 3 shillings and 11 and a half pennies. There have been two previous churches on the same site. The main claim to fame of this church is that it was the poet Robert Burns worshiped in his latter years and is also where he is buried.
