Garlieston, Dumfries and Galloway

The peaceful little village of Garlieston. Garlieston dates from the 1780s when Lord Garlies built a port on the sheltered shores of what is today known as Garlieston Bay. In more recent times Garlieston played a vital role in the construction and testing of sections the 'Mulberry' harbour used in the landings in France during WWII in 1944. Map location.
