Entrance to Fort George

Built as a garrison fort in the 18th century to subdue any further uprising of the Jacobites after their defeat at Culloden. It was never needed and is unique today in that it is the only ancient monument in Scotland still used as a garrison for a light infantry battallion whilst being open to the public.
