Mavisbank House, Loanhead

Designed by William Adam and Sir John Clerk in 1723. It was built as a villa for John Clerk with the now familiar wings being added shortly afterwards. This building is the earliest and probably the most important Palladian style house in Scotland. Unfortunately the last owner allowed it fall in to disrepair and the last straw was a serious fire. It narrowly missed being demolished in the 1980's and even today this catagoy A listed building has an uncertain future.
