The Robertson Memorial

John Robertson, born in Neilston in 1782, was the foreman at Crofthead Mill. This monument was erected in 1912 through the subscription of Neilston people to celebrate his design of the first marine engine that powered the first steamship on the river Clyde, The Comet.
