Sloy Power Station, Loch Lomond

A tunnel 3km long carries water from Loch Sloy through Ben Vorlich, towering 940m above Loch Lomond, to the valve house. From there the water plunges down the mountain side in 4 pipes to the Turbines of Sloy Power Station. This is the largest conventional Hydro Power station in the UK with a capacity of 152 Megawatts. It can be running at full load within 5 minutes from a standing start. Map Location
