Entrance hall, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Glasgow

The entrance hall that greets the visitor to what must be Glasgows most impressive Museum and Art Gallery. It opened its doors in 1901 having cost over 250,000 to complete. In 2001 funding of 27.9m was raised for a major restoration of the building which started in 2003 and was completed by 2006. More space was created by opening up the basement and building a storage area off site, the end result is a world class museum..... which thanks to Glasgow Council, remains free to all.
