Port Charlotte, Islay

The village was founded by Walter Frederick Campbell's in 1828 and named after his Mother. It was built to provide housing for the workers of Lochindeal Distillery which was opened in 1829. The distillery closed in 1929 but the buildings are in use today as a youth hostil. Map location.
