Braemar, Aberdeenshire
A view of the attractive village of Braemar. One of its claims to fame is the annual "Gathering" (Highland games) that take place in September every year. Since the days of Queen Victoria there has always been a royal presence at them. The small white building in the distance is the Meteorological Observatory set up by Prince Albert. To date Braemar holds the record for the coldest temperature recorded in the UK, -27.2Centigrade on 10th Jan 1982.
