One of the reactor buildings at Hunterston A Power station. Hunterston A has been in the process of being decomission since its last reactor was shut down in 1990. It was one of 11 british designed Magnox reactors built between 1956 and 1971, Hunterston A opened in 1964. The magnox design uses pressurised Carbon Dioxide to carry heat away from the reactor. In this picture you can see through the glass 3 of the large heat exchangers which produced steam to power the generator sets.
