Corgarff Castle, Aberdeenshire
Built in the mid 16th century by the Forbes of Towie, in 1571 it was burned by Adam Gordon of Auchindoun resulting in many deaths.  After the Jacobite uprising it was rebuilt as a barracks for government troops.  After 1831 it was used a a distillery and for housing local workers until it was passed on to the state in 1961.
