Ruthven Barracks and stables
Completed in 1721 to police the Highlands after the Jacobite uprising of 1715. The Stables on the left was added later for the horses of Dragoon's patrolling General Wade's new military road. There were various castles built on the same site, the earliest dating from 1229 but all traces of these were removed when the Barracks were constructed.
